Your smile can be in danger while you are pregnant. This is why it’s strongly recommended to keep your teeth in tip-top shape while your little baby grows. The more you care for your smile, the fewer complications you’ll experience. So, to help you, Dr. Nicholas Nicastro Jr. has some smile-care tips.
Smile-care Tip No. 1: Keep enamel erosion at bay.
Enamel erosion is a common dental issue that develops when acid attacks the teeth and wears them down. As you may already know, there is acid in vomit. So, if you have morning sickness, the acid in your vomit can cling to the teeth and deteriorate them. So, please brush your teeth 30 minutes after you throw up to save your smile.
Smile-care Tip No. 2: Prevent the development of gum disease.
Gum disease is a serious and dangerous dental issue that can affect you and your pregnancy. In fact, it can cause premature birth. So, please do your best to prevent this disease by brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing your teeth once a day, rinsing your mouth once a day, and visiting your dentist every six months.
